Imagine this. If Andy Warhol, Piet Mondrian, and Roy Lichtenstein were still alive, what kind of pop art would they create with the current fashion collections? Well, I might have an answer for you.
For this special mini project, I have invited Hey Harvey to create illustrations based on Junya Watanabe and Balmain S/S 2015 collections. The task is to create a few images that are inspired by some of the legendary pop art artists. Here is part 1.
Junya Watanabe S/S 2015 illustration inspired by Andy Warhol
When I first looked at Junya Watanabe S/S 2015 collection, pop art was the first thing that came to my mind. In here, Hey Harvey draws the famous headgears from the collection by using Andy Warhol‘s pop art style. The outcome is fun, cute, and very whimsical!
For the Balmain piece, because of the stripes on the clothes, the artist has created a piece inspired by Piet Mondrian‘s works. I love the colour block idea, and the outfit blends very well with shapes.
What do you think of these 2 illustrations? If you are interested to see what kind of art works Hey Harvey has created with the influence of Roy Lichtenstein‘s style, then make sure you keep an eye on this site!
